Rush

| Sep 13, 2013

Those who have seen the trailer will know that Rush is the "cinema Formula 1" . The presence of Ron Howard and Chris Hemsworth names above the title may put some bums on seats , but the fact that it is a film about motor racing certainly ostracize some potential viewers .
So stop there. Fever is not a movie about racing speed fans than the Titanic was sailing merchant seamen . Rush is a great shot, edited and directed the film made that transcends the sport of auto racing, as well as the main protagonists themselves made almost forty years ago .
The rivalry between F1 drivers James Hunt ( Hemsworth ) and Niki Lauda ( Daniel Brühl ) is common knowledge. Just a couple of minutes drive of gifts Google tells you how many championships won every driver, how they met, how they trained , how they lived and (almost ) dead ... Fever is not a film that tells his story. Rush is the film that takes you into his world and shows how the story unfolded in all its fast , crazy, wild , dazzling cynical, too , fearless. At the end you may still not want to be an F1 driver or even see a great prize, but sure would like to have been there for at least part of the 70 .

Howard has provided a mix of films over the years with schmaltzy , movies (A Beautiful Mind ) , biopics reflective (Frost / Nixon ) , compelling dramas ( Apollo 13 ) and absolute nonsense ( Angels and Demons ) . So which category would rush in? The tension created Howard 's ridiculous. Piston pump , colors blur , the scream of the engines deafen us . The issue is so strong that it feels like something will break. The anticipation of the skin and bones , although we know what and when it is almost too much for us to see how it develops. Technically , tip line in exquisite . Digital creation combines perfectly with the live action and slips , bumps, crashes and explosions are horrible.
But it is not only the speed and craziness around the track , where Howard guide to perfection. The hospital scenes when Lauda is treated are almost grotesque. We are running away from the images , involuntarily grimacing at the agony of Lauda even when it requires more pain to take him to recovery and revenge.
Fever has one of the best soundtracks of the year so far with Hans Zimmer showing why he is one of the busiest composers in Hollywood. Not that the score makes the movie , but enhances it very well , adding color emotional stunning visual effects to magnify the tension.

Potential customers are common in flawlessly . Hemsworth plays playboy hunting as we would like to be (or bed) and not ooze charisma , sprouts. He is arrogant , confident , charming and handsome . It is obvious why the men wanted Hunt 's life and many women welcomed to theirs . It is a secure, full performance that delimits Hemsworth again as an actor with a certain chameleon quality and undeniable star power . Immediately we like the game, but as 123 minutes running around, it becomes an imperfect man we admire but decided I really did not want to be and , in a way, it's a shame . It's a good performance that involves us all levels.
When ( The Edukators , Inglorious Basterds ) Brühl Lauda steps on the screen, is for a purpose, his candor and confidence Austrian taken as hubris . He does not suffer fools ( or almost no ) whether they are subordinates, rivals or men who pay for their unit. Supremely confident that the exclusion of social niceties , the observed Lauda put back immediately, but , like hunting in the screen evolves, so does Lauda and end of the film our loyalty has wavered. This is a sensible action Bruhl and understanding of the man who represents and clear admiration for him thoroughly infects us .

Some of the dialogue is uneven , there are many liberties taken with the truth ( although not to the extent that the U571 completely rewrote the story !) And is largely overlooked. Howard may have tried very hard to attract a mass audience , focusing on the main women in the life of drivers , including Hunt 's wife , Suzy (Olivia Wilde ) and Brühl , Marlene ( Alexandra Maria Lara ) . For Marlene , which is relatively powerful in the life of her husband , suffering through his accident with him. For Suzy , however , although it was influential in the period of Hunt 's career , it is difficult to see it as anything more than a spectator in life nothing and yet Howard sees fit to return to her Although it is far from their thoughts .
These are minor quibbles that make a very good movie tip rather than a 'big' . However, my film partner who has no interest in the sport and less knowledge made a simple summary : " Excellent . "
